New,
Larger Carousel Plus™ Dryers from Conair
Cut Energy Use While Processing up to 5000 lbs/hr
The
newest units in the Carousel Plus™ line
of dryers can save processors up to 35% on energy
consumption compared to other desiccant dryers
used in similar applications. The secret lies
in the desiccant-wheel design, which has fewer
parts and lighter structural mass so it heats
and cools more easily. Aimed at standard or central
drying applications, the W1000 dryer delivers
nominal throughput rates over 1500 lbs/hr, while
other units can yield throughputs ranging from
600 to more than 5000 lbs/hr.
The
standard microprocessor control system ensures
rock-steady temperatures and dew point levels,
which are critical to processing many of the moisture
and temperature sensitive polymers in common use
today. For the highest level of precision, a dewpoint
control can be added. The operator selects a particular
dew point value and locks it into the control,
which then adjusts various dryer functions to
hold that dew point precisely. This is particularly
important when running some of the moisture-sensitive
polymers that are subject to degradation if they
are over-dried
Overall,
the new central Carousel Plus dryers are smaller
and lighter than other dryers of similar capacity.
The weight of the desiccant assembly has been
reduced by as much as 70% and the total part count
has been reduced by 90%. Indexing bed plates have
been eliminated, along with unnecessary valving.
With the molecular sieve desiccant bonded onto
a non-woven fiberglass substrate and bonded onto
a continuously rotating wheel, messy desiccant
beads are also eliminated for simple, trouble-free
operation.
