Conair Moves Michigan Plastics Machinery To Larger Manufacturing Facility in Bay City
Michigan Plastics Machinery (MPM), the downstream extrusion equipment manufacturer acquired by The Conair Group a year ago, has moved to larger facilities in Bay City, MI. In its new 18,000-sq-ft home, MPM has about three times more manufacturing and assembly space, with higher work bays and easier truck access. Increased office space is better organized to accommodate customer meetings and training sessions.
Steve Sickles, who founded MPM, attributes the growth of the company to its customer-focused sales approach, unmatched system design expertise, and long-standing business relationships with extruders.
“Our growth over the last few years has meant that our old building was starting to burst at the seams,” he says. “With the larger facility and additional working space, we expect to see a significant improvement in efficiency and output. The higher work bays will also help us to build even larger equipment, which will allow us to venture deeper into the pipe and large profile market. And we have another 9,000 sq ft available for future growth.”
Conair and MPM have very complementary capabilities. Conair excels in systems for smaller profiles and tubing, as well as fast-delivery standardized products. MPM, on the other hand, specializes in designing and delivering lines for larger pipe and profile applications, as well as highly customized products.
