PL Machinery to Distribute Conair in UK and Ireland

PL Machinery, one of the UK’s leading and most experienced distributors of ancillary equipment for plastics processors, is the new distributor for The Conair Group, Inc. in the UK and Ireland. PL Machinery based in Barton-Le-Clay, Bedfordshire, will service and sell Conair material-handling and -conveying equipment, dryers and blenders, alongside the product ranges of existing clients, which include Rapid Granulator, Transitube and Moditec.

PL Machinery Services & Sales was formed in 2006 by Dave Sams and Neal Northwood when they took over the PL Plastics Machinery business upon the retirement of Peter Biro, who started that company with Rex Landon in 1981. Sams joined the company in 1990 as a service engineer and progressed to Technical Manager. Northwood began working for PL Plastics at age 17 and, during his 22 years with the company, has been involved in most areas of the business but is best known for his time running the spare parts/after-sales department.

Neal Northwood noted that, before founding PL Plastics, Peter Biro and Rex Landon both worked for the former Conair-Churchill, which eventually became Conair Europe, with offices in Slough, Berkshire, until its closing in 2008. “In a way, we have come full circle,” he says. “With Conair, we can offer plastics processors a complete range of fully supported ancillaries, as well as complete material handling systems, site relocation installations and much more.

Two other former Conair Europe employees have also joined the firm: Kevan Bagworth in Sales and Keith Bolton in Spare Parts.
