Wesley Sipe, a 10-year Conair veteran and heat-transfer expert, has been named General Manager of the team of engineers and customer service specialists tasked with marshalling global technology and resources to speed new product development and provide customers with the highest possible level of support and service.
In his new role, Sipe has responsibility for all sales, engineering, product development and service for chillers, temperature control units and integrated heat-transfer systems. He reports directly to Chris Keller, President of The Conair Group, Inc., who explains that “this move marks a key step in our global commitment to become the leading heat-transfer provider and serves to unite sales, customer service, engineering and product development functions within the company.”
Sipe points out that Conair has been a leader in heat-transfer since acquiring Thermolator, Inc., and the UK firm, Churchill Instrument Company in the mid-1970’s. The Conair Heat-Transfer Team he now leads has, collectively, almost 100 years of heat-transfer experience and over 30 years of Conair experience. “We are able to bring more applications-specific talent and resources to bear on more customer applications and projects than ever before,” he says. “All team members are degreed engineers and they are fully supported by the entire Conair organization, including sales, service, parts, finance and manufacturing.”
Sipe has also become part of a new Global Heat-Transfer Council, comprised of representatives from Conair operations in the U.S., Europe, India, East Asia and Latin America. Each organization contributes substantially to a multi-faceted perspective on global heat-transfer product development and commercial opportunities. Conair recently formed a joint venture in India, Nu-Vu Conair Pvt. Ltd., which manufactures chillers and mold-temperature control units in that country. The company also began manufacturing operations in China. “While Conair currently has no intention of exporting Asian-made equipment to the U.S.,” Sipe explains, “we want to learn everything we can and, over time, integrate this globally cultivated technology into our products for the benefit of all processors.”
Wesley Sipe joined Conair in 1997, bringing with him 10 years of experience in heat-transfer engineering at two Pennsylvania companies. Since then he has held a series of progressively more responsible positions in the Conair organization, most recently serving simultaneously as Process/Product R&D Manager and Laboratory Manager in the Conair Technical Center. He holds a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University.
